Education means knowledge, values, skills, critical thinking, problem solving and creativity. When used wisely, it has the power to make the world a better place.
India like any other country has progressed with time but its education system still needs to undergo some serious changes.
It is for the following reasons:
1. ROTELEARNING ISN’T EVERYTHING:
For a child to excel in all aspects of life requires a lot more than just rote learning.

Mugging up without understanding anything might help in getting perfect grades but it stumps a child’s brain development. There will be no room for logical reasoning or thinking out of the box.
“I hear and I forget. I see and I forget. I do and I understand.” – Confucius, a Chinese philosopher.
“The only source of knowledge is experience.”- Albert Einstein.
The above quotes scream that practical education enables a kid to not only understand the concept but also to implement it during the required moment in life. After all, isn't that the reason we need to be educated?
2. NO DIVERSE SUBJECTS:
As soon as children finish grade 12 there comes an important phase in their life similar to life or death; Engineering or medicine. All the 253 million teenagers in India are expected to choose between them. Utter ridiculousness right?
This is because we cling on to our pre-conceived notion that only an engineer or a doctor can lead a decent life.
We need to understand that kids are their own individuals with their own dreams.
Thankfully legends like AR.Rahman, Viswanathan Anand, Mary Kom broke out of these stereotypes and proved that there are other streams you can shine on too.
If only talents like these were cherished right from the school days we would by now have with us an army of people with extraordinary skill sets.
3. EXTRA-CURRICULARS:
In India extra-curricular activities are just considered as a formality when it clearly should be considered as a requisite.

· It develops leadership quality and fosters teamwork.
· Paves way for healthy competition.
· Improves their concentration.
· An opportunity for kids to learn new things.
· Helps in cultivating self-confidence.
· Unwind and recharge one-self.
· A break from monotonous learning.
4. GRADING SYSTEM:
Students should be graded not only for their performance in the exams but also for their overall development. Their classroom participation, etiquettes, reasoning skills, communication skills and sports activities should be taken into consideration too.
Under the pressure to get good grades the children just snap at times. What if the child gets good grades but has a poor social etiquette? Will she/he get hired? Will the child grow up to be responsible?
Think wisely and arrive at an answer.
5. UNEMPLOYMENT:
The lack of practical understanding and soft skills often reflects when your kids are trying to get a job.
If an interviewer asks them to handle a particular situation theoretical knowledge doesn’t come to their aid, only logical and analytical reasoning does; which they will most obviously lack from suffering under rote learning.
Due to this our employment rate has taken a serious hit. 33% of our population remain jobless because they lack the skillset companies are looking for. What’s even more shocking is that 40% of the freshly trained graduates are unable to land a job offer.
The root cause, as we all know by now is the tradition educational system.
The above reasons sums up the need to update our current academic education system.
