Let’s see what Dr. Tony Wadger, co-director of Harvard’s Change Leadership says. In his analysis of future education needs he has identified what he calls a "global achievement gap," which is the leap between what even our best schools are teaching, and the must-have skills of the future.

Some of those must-have skills are:

1.      Critical thinking and problem-solving

Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are an essential life skill. These skills help a child develop their logical, analytical and creative thinking abilities, as well as their ability to make decisions.

Critical thinking allows us to creatively solve problems by first asking questions and then evaluating evidence. It involves the use of reason to think critically about situations, ideas, or issues.

Problem solving is the process of identifying a problem and designing a solution that will resolve or prevent it from occurring again. It's based on the principle that difficult situations can be solved by breaking them down into smaller parts and then solving one component at a time.

2.      Collaboration across networks and leading by influence

Collaboration across networks and leading by influence is a skill that enables individuals to work cooperatively within a group, as well as with others who are not part of the group.

It involves managing relationships, building alliances, and finding common ground. This skill also involves taking initiative to involve colleagues or other stakeholders in order to work towards shared goals.

In today’s world, many jobs require you to work with people from different backgrounds and cultures who may not share your perspective or goals. This skill will help you create value by working together more effectively.

The capacity to demonstrate this skill has been identified by educators as a key attribute of students who will succeed in the future workforce.

3.      Agility and adaptability

Agility and adaptability are important in life because they help you to be able to handle different situations that come your way.

It is said, “Life happens when we are busy making plans.” When you know these skills, you can better handle the unexpected and unexpected circumstances.

Agility is defined as the ability to move quickly and easily. Adaptability is defined as the quality of being able to adjust to new conditions. When we think about how fast change has occurred in our world, it is clear how important these two things are for children today.

The world we live in today is so fluid that all of us need to become agile learners, flexible workers and adaptive leaders. In fact, a recent study found that 65% of children will work in jobs that don't even exist yet!

This means that our children need skills that will help them to be able to shift their thinking to meet the future needs of their employers and a global society.

4.      Initiative and entrepreneurialism

Initiative and entrepreneurialism is defined as "the ability to make decisions and act on them."

Entrepreneurialism is the ability to start and run a business. It includes having the idea, developing a plan, launching the business, keeping it going, and making it successful.

Children should be trained right from their childhood to become a successful entrepreneur.

5.      Effective oral and written communication

Remember one idea can change the whole world.

Children need to be able to express themselves in ways that others can understand. You may have the most interesting ideas in your head, but if you can't explain them to other people, it's hard for any one to understand or appreciate them.

It is the basic way to express one’s unique idea/thoughts that may create an impact among the lives of people.

It takes one minute to understand what others are saying, but it takes one to three days to express your own ideas through written or spoken words.

The reason why it takes us a long time to communicate our ideas through written or spoken words is that we need to organize our thoughts.

If you want to become an excellent communicator and make your ideas change the world, you should practice organizing your thoughts and then writing them down or speaking them out loud as clearly as possible.

6.      Accessing and analysing information

It is all about identifying patterns and trends -Being able to understand large amounts of data, identify patterns, trends and stories within that data, and use this information to make strategic decisions.

It includes gathering, analysing and synthesising information - Gathering information through a range of sources (e.g. text, data, image), analysing it from different perspectives (e.g. historical, social, economic), synthesising it into new ideas or artefacts (e.g. products, processes) and evaluating its impact on individuals or communities.

7.      Curiosity and imagination

Curiosity is important because it grows a child's comfort level with experimentation, investigation and play. Curiosity can empower a child to have the strength to try new things and be brave enough to fail.

It encourages learning and discovery. Curiosity is a key ingredient in the recipe for success.

Imagination is important because it allows them to create their own reality, escape into another world, or find new solutions that others have not thought of yet.

Imagination helps children dream about endless possibilities!
